My car had been giving off a metal scraping noise every now and then and one day i must've driven over something uneven because then the sound was constant, and I noticed the undercarriage dragging underneath. I did a google search and found winkler automotive, stopped by, and within 5min they had my car in the back, and after another 5, were able to determine and give me estimates of what needed to be ordered and repaired. Miraculously, the parts were in stock and able to ship to them the same day, and they could have my car ready in a few hours. They even had a courtesy shuttle to drive me back home and picked me up when it was ready. I never once felt they spoke down to me, nor tried to up-sell, nor intimidate. They also sent live text updates on the status of my car. Awesome 5-star service. Jin, an associate there, was the one who helped me out, and I would definitely recommend him/winkler’s to friends and family who need car services. It’s easy to locate, very clean and modern, and they have a small waiting area/coffee bar.

Tried to change my battery, wasn’t necessary My fan was making a noise after I left, were not interested in assuming responsibility or even looking at it. Advertise loaner cars didn’t have one even though I had made an appointment online Expensive Just didn’t feel good about overall experience.

Hello Marc, I am very sorry to read that you felt you didn't have a good experience with us. I would certainly like the opportunity to understand exactly where we failed you in delivering exceptional service for you. I would also like to address some of the remarks you have made in your review. With regards to your comment about the battery change being unnecessary, I'd like to refer you to the Digital Courtesy Inspection that we sent you on January 18,day of your visit, in which we attached a picture of your battery test. It clearly shows the battery needs replacement, based on it's cold cranking amperage rating as well as its ability to retain a charge. As for the fan making noise, I want to assure you that the work we did on your car, namely the starter replacement, had no bearing on your car's blower motor. These parts are located in very distinct areas of the car (blower motor is located in the passenger footwell area, inside the cabin, and the starter is located underneath the vehicle, outside the cabin), and we would not have interfered with it. As for the loaner cars, we are sorry you could not get one on the day of your visit. While we always do our very best to accomodate a customer who requests a loaner car, please bear in mind that making an appointment doesn't mean that a loaner car will be made available all the time. This is still something the customer should request. And when you made your appointment online, there is no mention of needing a loaner car. Of course, if a vehicle is available at tehe time of your appointment, we will certainly give it to you. But as you probably can understand, even though we have 6 loaner vehicles in our fleet, it is a finite amount, and as you could tell, they are in very high demand. In the future, please make sure to make mention at the time you are making the appointment that you would need a loaner car - this guarantees a loaner car will be available for you then. As for being expensive, it really depends what you mean by that. We pride ourselves on the fact that we provide our customers with total transparency in our process, starting with our digital courtesy inspection on each vehicle we see. We also have the best tools of the trade, from the latest diagnostic tools to the ability to reprogram computers on all cars. We also ensure that our entire team undergoes on-going training to keep abreast of all the newest technologies. In addition to all that, we stand behind our work 100% by providing a no-argument 36/36 warranty on repairs and install the best parts in your vehicle. And we offer an array of other amenities such as a shuttle, a modern, clean waiting room with refreshments, snacks and wi-fi, loaner cars, and our very much appreciated excellent customer service as attested by many customers. So in the end, I am so very sorry that we could not provide you with the value we stand for, and I hope we can make it up to you in the near future. I will try again to reach you. Best regards, Karim

These folks always explain everything thoroughly, leaving nothing out of the equation. They helped my son get his truck back on the road when he was having a terrible time with a shop in Garrett County where he lived. They helped me with my 2017 Mazda in being very honest and showing me everything it needed after an accident. Jin Jung was especially kind and patient in explaining everything and doing whatever it took to offer the best service. If you have car troubles, then you definitely want these guys on your side.

They are the very best. Very honest and polite. They can figure anything out. Highly recommend. Jin Jung was especially helpful in explaining everything thoroughly and patiently when I recently had rear-end damage to my 2017 Mazda,

Thank you very much!

The guys at Winkler are always so friendly and knowledgeable. They explained to me that I didn’t need to return every 3000 miles for an oil change, and that my dealer was gouging me! So nice to have a service center so close to my work, too. Love the oil change promotions!!

Thank you Cara for your wonderful review. While many shops and dealers out there still advocate a 3000-mile oil change, we have decided instead to rely on science and data to make our decision to establish our oil change intervals at 5000 miles for conventional oil and 7500 miles for synthetic. The reason behind our decision is two-fold: advance in oil technology, and the environment. Today's oils are much more resilient than they were 10 years ago, with some oil manufacturers claiming 10,000 miles between oil changes. Some car manufacturers have even started to recommend 10,000 mile oil changes. But there is a very improtant caveat to keep in mind: these claims are based on tests conducted on engines running in optimal conditions. Unfortunately, driving conditions in the Washington DC ara are rarely optimal - stop-&-go traffic is more the norm, and these conditions mean that engines usually run hotter than optimal, because the cooling system, which does require air flow through the radiator, is not occuring as designed most of the time. This extra heat degrades the additives added to oils to protect engines from wear and tear. Another degrading factor for oils is humidity in the air, which over time will contribute to oil degradation. We have replaced in the last few years many engines on newer cars whose manufacturer claimed the larger mileage intervals between oil changes. Clearly the jury is still out on this one. So we dont advocate going as high as 7500 miles on conventional and 10000 on synthetic as oil and car manufacturers would lead you to believe (read the fine print...). Another reason why I belive the oil change intervals need to be raised from the old 3000 and 5000 standards is because of the environmental strain it causes. An average driver in the US drives about 12000 miles/ year. At 3000 miles oil change interval, you need 4 oil changes. At 5000 miles oil change interval, you need 2. Now it may not seem much, but think on a larger scale: each time, on average 5 new quarts of oil are needed for an oil change. Now multiply that by the millions of cars out there. Indeed going from 4 to 2 means a lot of new oil can stay in the ground a little longer, which mother nature would thank us for! We found that a safe interval would be 5000 miles for conventional oils and 7500 miles for synthetic oils. Thanks again for choosing us to service your vehicle. Sincerely, Karim.
