One of our most cherished and undeniable rights as per our Declaration of Independence is the Pursuit of Happiness. Yet, it is all too often overlooked in business (When was the last time you were happy with your work?).
Given we spend on average over 65% of our precious productive weekly hours at work (for some, it’s much more), it’s no wonder we rank 13th in the World Happiness Index. By the way, I don’t think the 12 nations ranking before us specifically mention the right to happiness in their Constitution! In addition, no company can possibly hope to provide a great service or product for its customers if its employees are not happy.
So, what makes people happy at work? We believe people will tend to be happy at work when they feel that they matter, are respected and recognized for the value they bring to the company.
